Swedish telecoms regulator PTS gets new director-general from National Defence Research Institute

Swedish telecoms regulator PTS said Lena Nyberg has been appointed as its new director-general from 01 May, taking over from Dan Sjoeblom after a transition period. She joins the watchdog from the role of director-general of the National Defence Research Institute (FOI) and will serve a six-year term. Minister of Civil Affairs Erik Slottner said Nyberg has extension experience in operational management, and referred to the altered security situation and PTS' forthcoming merger with digital governance agency

Brazilian telecom operator Unifique reported net operating revenue of BRL 1.18 billion for the full year 2025, marking a 15.6 percent increase compared to 2024. Uzbekistan operator Ucell has started sales of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series of smartphones in its shops. Belarusian operator Life has refreshed its 15-day data roaming package valid in popular countries. The volume has been raised from 1.5 GB to 2 GB, and Vietnam, Israel, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan have been added to the countries covered with the package. Spectrum, the US cable carrier and ISP owned by Charter Communications, has signed a multi-year agreement to procure Docsis 4-capable remote PHY devices (RPDs) from Canada's Vecima Networks. LaLiga tops 2,000 convictions against bars in piracy crackdown

The Spanish Football League (LaLiga) has secured more than 2,000 convictions against bars and other hospitality venues in Spain for illegally broadcasting football matches, in the latest phase of its crackdown on audiovisual piracy. LaLiga said the figure, equivalent to a favourable ruling roughly every two days, follows a 2019 shift to pursue offenders through criminal proceedings in response to piracy losses estimated at around EUR 600 million a year for football clubs.

Fortinet announced Caroline van Cleemput as its new Country Manager BeLux. Court rejects earn-out fee claims for Youfone Zakelijk sale

Two former shareholders of Dutch MVNO Youfone are not entitled to an earn-out fee, a court in Rotterdam ruled. Both their claim on the additional payment and the appeal filed by Yoin Holding against an earlier decision from 2025 were rejected. In the earlier decision Yoin was ordered to pay the two EUR 250,000 each in post-closing fees, covering operational targets such as the number of active Sims.

SFR offers eSIM transfers between iPhone and Android devices

French operator SFR said that customers with selected smartphones can now benefit from the automatic transfer of eSIM profiles between iOS- and Android-powered handsets. This service was previously restricted to transfers between devices running the same operating system (iOS-to-iOS or Android-to-Android). The list of compatible iOS models covers iPhones from the 11 series or more recent, while availability on Android requires the Google Pixel 9 and 10 series.
