Ecuadorian govt unveils AI strategy

Ecuador's government has presented a national strategy to promote the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) as part of efforts to drive technological democratisation and boost productivity. Telecommunications minister Roberto Kury said the aim is to ensure AI is always guided by principles of ethics, transparency, inclusion and respect for human rights, while facilitating economic and social development.

AT&T announced a refresh of its mobile plans, with three tiers of plan that customers can mix across lines on the same account. The options start at USD 50 per month for the 'AT&T Value 2.0' option and go up to USD 70 for Extra 2.0 and USD 90 for Premium 2.0. The prices fall as customers add more lines, to as little as USD 30/40/55 with four or more lines on the same account.

Ofcom consults on new Starlink NGSO gateway licences

UK regulator Ofcom has launched a consultation on whether or not to grant a non-geostationary orbiting (NGSO) earth station licence to Starlink for gateway sites in Mulberry Wharf (London) and Harlow (Essex). The watchdog described NGSO satellite systems as a way of delivering high-speed, low-latency broadband services from space, particularly in coverage blind spots.

Regional TV operator Imafex to raise rates from April

Slovak regional pay TV operator Imafex, providing services in Liptov and Banska Bystrica, plans to raise prices for its TV services from 01 April, reports Zive. The main reason is the growing cost of content licensing. The base package from the operator will cost EUR 10.90, up from EUR 7.90, an increase of 38 percent. The operator will also reduce the monthly rate of its package Kinobox, incuding TV channels FilmBox Family, FilmBox Premium HD and FilmBox Extra HD, by EUR 0.40 to EUR 1.70.

T-Mobile Poland has introduced an offer with the retail chain Zabka, offering customers buying new Sim starter packages from T-Mobile Poland in shops of the chain free hotdogs. They also get YouTube Premium free for three months. The promotion is valid until 07 April when purchasing a recurring annual package, including twelve monthly 866.25 GB data bundles. The monthly plan costs PLN 50.

NTV-Plus resumes TV services in Siberia

Russian satellite TV operator NTV Plus has resumed its services in Siberia, reports RBC. The services are provided over the satellite Yamal-402, belonging to the operator Gazprom Space Systems, with around 60 channels available. The switch follows the loss of Russian satellite Express-AT1, located at 56 degrees East, which stopped working unexpectedly on 04 March. Efforts at the state-owned satellite operator RSCC and the vendor Reshetnev to restore its functions were unsuccessful.

Very Mobile, the low-cost brand of Italian operator WindTre, is contacting former customers to offer them a plan with 250GB of data and unlimited national calls for under EUR 5 a month, reports Mondo Mobile Web, citing SMS sent to selected users. The EUR 4.99 a month tariff can be activated at stores and online by ex-customers who have switched to other operators via a dedicated coupon code.

Russian internet company Yandex said that revenues of its subsidiary Yandex B2B Tech totaled RUB 48.2 billion in 2025, up by 48 percent year-on-year. Adjusted EBITDA amounted to RUB 9.4 billion. Revenues at Yandex Cloud rose 39 percent to RUB 27.6 billion, and the office services unit Yandex 360 contributed turnover of RUB 18.4 billion, up by 59 percent.

Russian operator TTK has launched its new security service for internet customers. The solution includes broadband services and multi-level protection of digital infrastructure for businesses. Top NVA political advisor to join Proximus board

The Belgian state shareholding company SFPIM has proposed two new board members at Proximus, Francis De Meyere and Eric Domb. De Meyere is a former advisor to the Belgian prime minister Bart De Wever and has previously held positions at the tech industry association Agoria and in the Belgian nuclear industry. Five SADC countries cut roaming prices under One Area Network

Five Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states have agreed to reduce and harmonise international roaming charges under the One Network Area (ONA) framework, namely Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Roaming charge reductions range from 10 percent to 98.6 percent for data, voice and SMS services. Mobile operators involved are Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, Mascom, Orange Botswana, Airtel, Econet, MTN, Vodacom and others.
