3 Austria to offer 3 DVB-H devices, free mobile TV use until year-end

Friday 30 May 2008 | 11:28 CET | News
3 Austria has unveiled its mobile TV portfolio including two DVB-H enabled Nokia devices and one DVB mobile phone from Momodesign and a mobile TV service with 20 channels. The DVB-H service comes on top of 3 Austria's mobile TV via UMTS streaming service and can be used for free until the end of this year, after which it will be charged at EUR 6 per month. For Showtime XL customers, the DVB-H service will be included in the package for free. 3 Austria will offer the Nokia N77, starting 30 May and Nokia N73 plus USB dongle during Euro 2008 (7 until 29 June) and the exclusive Momodesign device will be launched before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing. 3 Austria participated in the winning DVB-H consortium together with ONE and Media Broadcast. The DVB-H network will be deployed and activated in all four Euro 2008 cities: Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt on 6 June, while the coverage will be extended to 50 percent of Austrian households by the end of this year.
