
Public Wi-Fi provider AlwaysOn is set to launch a new Wi-Fi voice calling service in South Africa, which will compete against Vodacom South Africa, MTN South Africa, Cell C, and Telkom. AlwaysOn provides secure Wi-Fi Internet through 2,200 hotspots in South Africa and offers roaming capabilities in over 110 countries at more than one million hotspots, BusinessDay reported.
AlwaysOn is repositioning itself as a Wi-Fi-led service provider that has plans to offer its customers more value-added services. According to the report, the company hopes it will expand its subscriber base. Pricing and other details about the service are expected soon, MyBroadband reported.
