Belgian mobile operators handle Christmas Eve SMS rise

Belgian mobile operator Mobistar registered 28.9 million text messages on Christmas Eve between 8.00 pm on 24 December to 8.00 am on 25 December, a rise of 28.7 percent from the year before, L'Echo reported. Mobistar said there were 9.6 million SMS sent and 19.3 million received. KPN Group Belgium said that Base registered more than 16 million text messages, with 6.9 million sent and 9.6 million received. Proximus meanwhile said it handled 28.7 million text messages, with 14.5 million sent and 14.2 millions received, around the same as the year before.
