Bosnia to postpone introduction of DTT until 2012 - report

Monday 25 July 2011 | 12:54 CET | News
The introduction of DTT in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be delayed until spring 2012, compared with earlier plans for the first phase to be completed in October 2011, according to local daily Nezavisne Novine. The paper cites the expert digitalisation team at the Public Broadcasting Service, who say this is because of an appeal against the result of the international tender for the DTT equipment. Croatia's Ericsson Nikola Tesla was declared the winner, but domestic company Unis Telekom has complained to the country's Office for Appeals. The paper said it is therefore unlikely that the deadlines will be met for the construction of links and transmitters in the regions of Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka, which would cover about one million viewers.
