BRENT COUNCIL SETS UP INTRANET, EXTRANET, WEB PAGE

UK: The local govt of Brent, London, UK, has set up its own intranet system back-end, extranet for selected organisations, and a public service Web site called Brent resources and infrastructure network (Brain). The Web page lists all voluntary and community groups found locally, doctors, schools, and other public information. Free Internet access is offered at local libraries, and E-mail inquiries are handled within three working days, over the counters of the council's one-stop shops. Separately, BT set up an intranet, extranet, and Web-page system for the Local Govt Assn. BT's managed service includes supplying technology, maintenance, and design consultancy.
