BT Italia to become full MVNO, change partner
BT Italia, the Italian subsidiary of British Telecom, has decided to move from MVNO to full MVNO, becoming totally independent in its management of SIM cards, service and offers, reports Italian daily Il Sole 24 Ore. In addition, the operator has changed its network partner from Vodafone to Telecom Italia. The agreement with the Italian operator's mobile unit TIM was signed back in August, but the changeover will take place in 2014.

Gianluca Cimini, BT Italia CEO, said that the decision to become a full MVNO confirmed that BT still wanted to play a leading role in the enterprise market, and was committed to continuing its investment in Italy, a message presumably sent in response to recent strikes by unions in protest against the 147 redundancies announced by the company.
