Spanish financial services provider CaixaBank, and payment processing services provider Global Payments have signed an agreement to form a 50/50 joint venture in the Brazilian merchant payments market. The joint venture, named Comercia Global Payments Brazil, is already accepting Visa and MasterCard cards.
Since 2010, Global Payments has partnered with CaixaBank to offer payment services to merchants in Spain, where they currently claim to have a 24 percent market share. The current agreement in Brazil combines the technological and commercial expertise of the two companies in contactless technology, digital payments and mPOS services.
