
China appoints Xu Lin as head of internet regulator

Lu Wei, director of Cyberspace Administration of China, the country's internet regulator, has stepped down from his position, and has been replaced by his deputy Xu Lin, state news agency Xinhua reports. Xu Lin was previously in charge of propaganda in China's commercial capital Shanghai between 2013 and 2015, before moving to Beijing a year ago to become a deputy to Lu, Reuters reports.
