China Unicom, Telecom, Mobile top 1.29 bln mobile subs

China Mobile topped 817.1 million mobile telephony subscribers in June, up from 816.3 million at the end of May. During June, China Mobile saw 861,000 net customer additions, compared to only 373,000 in May this year. China Mobile's 3G subscriber base reached 214.8 million at 30 June, down from 222.6 million in May. The operator ended June with over 189.6 million subscribers in the 4G segment compared with 170.3 million in the previous month.

China Unicom ended June with 289.3 million mobile subscribers, following a net loss of 0.9 million subscribers during the month. China Unicom had over 157.7 million mobile broadband subscribers at end-June, following net additions of 5 million subscribers in the month. Total subscribers in the fixed broadband segment reached 70.59 million at end-June. During the month, the operator recorded a net addition of 283,000 subscribers in this segment. China Unicom ended June with 78.4 million local access subscribers, after a loss of 428,000 subscribers during the month.

China Telecom ended June with a total of 191.4 million mobile subscribers, up from 190.6 million in May. China Telecom saw a net increase of 0.76 million mobile subscribers in June. China Telecom ended June with 109.5 million fixed broadband accesses, compared to 109.1 million the previous month. In the fixed telephony segment, China Telecom ended June with 139.3 million lines in service, down from 139.9 million in the previous month.

China reached 1.3 billion mobile subscribers at the end of September, which represents an increase of 0.28 percent quarter-on-quarter and 2.14 percent year-on-year, DigiTimes reports, citing data provided by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). China Mobile topped 820.1 million mobile telephony subscribers in August, up from 818.7 million at the end of July. During August, China Mobile saw 1.3 million net customer additions, compared to 1.5 million in June this year. China Mobile's 3G subscriber base reached 202.6 million at 31 August, down from 209.8 million in June. The operator ended August with over 229.2 million subscribers in the 4G segment compared with 208.8 million in the previous month.

China Mobile leads net additions in July

China Mobile led net subscriber gains in the Chinese mobile market in July. The operator added 1.579 million new customers for a total 818.78 million at the end of July. China Unicom H1 profits up on lower costs, broadband growth

China Unicom reported revenues for the first half of 2015 down 3.3 percent from a year earlier to CNY 144.69 billion. Services revenue fell 5.3 percent, with mobile revenues down 9.7 percent to CNY 73.46 billion and fixed revenues up 2.2 percent to CNY 46.19 billion. Unicom blamed the drop on the changes to VAT in China and changes to its sales and marketing model. The latter resulted in reduced handset subsidies and operating costs, helping EBITDA for the period increase 5.8 percent to CNY 50.46 billion. N

China Telecom H1 results flat on tax reform, price cuts

China Telecom reported revenues for the first half of 2015 down 0.6 percent year-on-year to CNY 164.95 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose 0.4 percent to CNY 50.74 billion, while net profit fell 4.0 percent to CNY 10.98 billion. Chinese operators to slash mobile data prices by up to 35%

China's three state-owned mobile operators said they will cut mobile data prices and increase data speeds this year. The measure is expected to generate a mass migration of customers to 4G contracts, Reuters reports. China Mobile said it would reduce mobile data rates by 35 percent or more by year-end. China Unicom (Hong Kong) plans to apply a tariff reduction of 20 percent or more per megabyte of data. China Telecom intends to cut its mobile data rates by an average 30 percent per megabyte.
