
Chinese internet companies form internet music group

The Chinese ministry of culture has helped form an association of internet music operators and music content providers called the Internet Music Industry Development Consortium. Around twenty companies signed an agreement to promote the internet music industry and became the first members of the association, the China Daily reports. The consortium calls for the production of legal music content, an increase of indigenous music content, and also offers guidance on dispute settlement and competition. Members include Tencent, Sina, Baidu, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, and several record labels.
