Claro launches mobile operations in Costa Rica
Claro has activated its first mobile lines in Costa Rica. Claro has also opened its first mobile shops at six local shopping centres located in Heredia, Alajuela, Escazu and Tres Rios (La Union), Inside Costa Rica reports, citing Ricardo Taylor, head of Claro's operations in Costa Rica. Claro's network currently covers the Greater Metropolitan Area, and will be gradually expanded across the country.

Telefonica has commercially launched mobile services in Costa Rica. Claro, Movistar receive mobile numbering range in Costa Rica

Costa Rica telecoms regulator Sutel has granted mobile operators Claro and Movistar the mobile numbers they requested in August and September. Each company has been assigned 1 million mobile numbers and may now start signing up customers. Movistar and Claro "can start marketing their mobile voice service any time now", El Financiero reports, citing Glenn Fallas, Sutel's quality control director.
