Digicel launches 4G services in Fiji
Digicel has launched its 4G network in Fiji. Digicel's 4G services will be initially available in the greater Suva area, Nadi including Denarau Island and the wider Lautoka area. Digicel Fiji has also introduced a 4G smartphone offering, with prices starting at FJD 299. To access Digicel's 4G services, customers can subscribe to tariff plans with 300 MB of traffic for FJD 1.49, or take up a 7-day pass of FJD 5.99 for 800 MB.

Digicel Fiji has expanded its 3G+ network to Lau Islands, Beqa Island and Savusavu. The project is part of Digicel Fiji's planned FJD 70 million investment announced in July. Customers in the In the Lau archipelago, Lakeba, Lomaloma, Cicia and Mago Islands can now connect to Digicel's 3G+ network.

Digicel Fiji plans to invest FJD 70 million in its data network expansion and upgrade. Investment will focus on 4G network deployments and expansion of Digicel's existing 3G+ network coverage. Vodafone Fiji attracts 6,000 LTE subs in 2 months

Vodafone Fiji has seen over 6,000 customers sign-up for its LTE plans since the launch late last year. The company said that this adoption rate is better than the 3G uptake in 2007. Vodafone Fiji currently offers 4G services only in the Suva to Nausori corridors and will expand this to new areas in the coming months. The operator is also working with Apple to get iPhone and iPad users on the new LTE service as soon as possible.

The 4G auction in Fiji has raised over USD 5 million. Vodafone Fiji bought 30 MHz of spectrum on the first day, reaching the quota. Vodafone bought six lots of spectrum paying USD 864,000 in total. Telecom Fiji also secured 30 MHz of spectrum at a total cost of USD 2.2 million. Vodafone Fiji buys 30 MHz of 4G spectrum, reaches quota

Vodafone Fiji has bought 30 MHz of 4G spectrum in the auction, reaching the quota set by the government. Vodafone bought six lots of spectrum, paying USD 144,000 for each lot. Meanwhile, Digicel ended the first day with three lots of spectrum, paying USD 420,500 for two and USD 420,300 for the third lot, the Fiji Times reports. Telecom Fiji also successfully bid for three lots, paying USD 504,700 for each. In total, there were twenty lots of spectrum available. The auction will run until July 26.

The 4G spectrum auction has begun in Fiji. Digicel, Vodafone Fiji, and Telecom Fiji are registered to bid in the auction which could run until 26 July. The government is offering twenty spectrum lots with reserves ranging from USD 131,250 to 504,000, FBC News reports.
