Dominican Republic auctions 900 MHz, 1700-2100 MHz spectrum
Dominican Republic regulator Indotel has launched a spectrum tender for provision of public telecommunications services. Via this international tender, Indotel will grant concessions and licences for the use of radio frequencies bands across the country. The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) is auctioning spectrum in the 941-960 MHz and 1755MHz/2110-2155 MHz frequency bands. The tender winner will be announced on 21 April.

Claro, Orange win spectrum tender in Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic telecoms regulator Indotel has awarded spectrum in the 941-960 MHz and 1755MHz/2110-2155 MHz frequency bands to Claro and Orange/Altice for a total price of USD 70.5 million (approximately DOP 3 billion). Dominican court postpones frequency auction

The second division of the High Administrative Court (TSA) has suspended the frequency auction announced by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), reports Noticia Sin. This follows an appeal lodged by entrepreneur Jose Armando Bermudez, who is seeking the annulment of the auction. The same court had rejected a request by operators to lift the preliminary injunction suspending the auction for frequencies in the 2,100 MHz band. El Salvador telecommunications regulator Siget has re-launched the tender for 1900 MHz and 1700-2100 MHz (AWS) spectrum. El Salvador telecommunications regulator Siget has launched a tender for 1900 MHz and 1700-2100 MHz spectrum. Siget is auctioning two AWS spectrum blocks of 20 MHz (10+10 MHz) in the 1900 MHz frequency bands and 20 MHz (10+10 MHz) in the 1700-2100 MHz frequency bands. The starting price has been set at USD 6.99 million per 20 MHz spectrum block. Interested operators can place their bids by 1 November. The bid opening is scheduled for 5 November.

Paraguay to launch AWS spectrum tender in Q1 2014

Paraguayan telecoms regulator Conatel plans to launch a 1700-2100 MHz (AWS) spectrum tender in the first quarter of 2014, Conatel president Eduardo Gonzalez told Telesemana. According to Gonzalez, the regulator is studying the possibility of segmenting this spectrum to allow the entry of new operators on the local market.

The National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) of Honduras has launched a 1700-2100 MHz (AWS) spectrum tender. Conatel is auctioning two spectrum blocks (20+20 MHz), a third one also of 20 MHz being reserved for state-owned operator Hondutel. Interested bidders can acquire the tender documents by 26 August for USD 2,500.

Uruguay's telecoms regulator Ursec has launched an auction of spectrum blocks in the 900 MHz, 1900 MHz and 1700 – 2100 MHz (AWS) frequency bands, for provision of mobile communications services on the local market.
