DTAC launches TriNet 3G
Thai mobile operator DTAC has introduced its TriNet-branded 3G services. TriNet combines DTAC's 3G services on the 1,800 and 850 MHz bands with the 2,100 MHz band. Customers can register their interest for the new service now but the company will not start serving customers until 5 June, The Nation writes. Voice packages will start at THB 149 per month with 200 minutes. The company is targeting 3.25 million new customers and 3.25 million existing 2G customers for TriNet this year. DTAC already has 3.5 million 3G customers on its 850 MHz network and is hoping to boost the total 3G base to 10 million before year-end. Rivals AIS and True also launched 3G services on 2.1 GHz this week.

Thai mobile services provider DTAC has launched its "1 million hours for Thai children - internet for all" project. Under the project, the mobile operator will give selected schools free air cards and Sim cards to access DTAC's 3G network mobile internet service. The project is being carried out in cooperation with the government and will cost THB 11 billion. Thai mobile operator DTAC has launched a free farmer info app. The app is an extension of the existing Farmer's Information Gateway, which launched five years ago and signed-up 250,000 subscribers, the Bangkok Post reports. The private mobile operators in Thailand have confirmed they will reduce 3G prices by 15 to 20 percent, as requested by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).
