Dutch to sign ACTA at later date

Friday 27 January 2012 | 09:58 CET | News
The Netherlands did not sign the ACTA treaty on 26 January due to planning mishaps, Webwereld reported, citing EuroMP Marietje Schaake. The Dutch ambassador was scheduled to sign but did not get the mandate to do so on time. Germany and Spain found themselves in a similar position. The Netherlands will sign the treaty at a later time, after the cabinet makes a formal decision, a spokesman for the ministry of economic affairs said. After signing the treaty on an EU level, it will then go to the Upper and Lower Houses of Dutch Parliament for ratification.
