EC set to approve ACTA

Thursday 26 January 2012 | 11:01 CET | News
The European Commission and EU member states are expected to approve the ACTA treaty on 26 January at a conference in Japan, the BBC reports. The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement has already been signed by the US, Australia, Japan, Canada, South Korea and other countries. The treaty aims to increase international coordination of the fight against counterfeit goods and online piracy. Once the European Commission gives its approval, the Parliament must also clear the treaty.
