Monday 6 June 2011 | 11:28 CET | News
Eindhoven has been named the smartest region in the world by international think tank Intelligent Community Forum. The Dutch region came ahead of regions around Seoul and Silicon Valley. Eindhoven took the highest spot because it is home to many knowledge-intensive companies such as ASML, NXP, Philips Medical and microscope maker FEI. The city also includes the Eindhoven Technical University and its Science Park, as well as the public-private cooperation programme Brainport.
