Ericsson gives notice to 2,100 Swedish staff

Ericsson said the plan to cut jobs in Sweden that it announced in March will mean approximately SEK 2.5 billion in restructuring costs in the second quarter of 2015, and that individual employees in a various locations in the country have been given notice during June. In March, Ericsson said that 2,200 positions in Sweden, mainly in R&D and Supply, were subject to notice. The notices given to staff during  June means a reduction of approximately 2,100 positions, with some 1,700 employees leaving the company.

Ericsson said the second quarter 2015 restructuring costs of approximately SEK 2.5 billion include normal restructuring as well as charges related to the global cost and efficiency programme.It said savings will start to feed through to its results towards the end of the 2015.

It said the global cost and efficiency programme announced at Ericsson's Capital Markets Day in November 2014 is progressing according to plan. The ambition is to achieve savings of approximately SEK 9 billion, with full effect during 2017.
