Colombian operator Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) has acquired a 75 percent stake in satellite communications services provider Skynet. The acquisition price reached COP 30 billion (approximately USD 14.6 million). According to ETB president Saul Kattan Cohen, the Skynet acquisition will enable ETB to offer services such as satellite TV outside the Bogota capital area. Via Skynet, ETB will expand its services to the Choco, Guajira and Amazonas regions, which are currently not covered by its fiber-optic network.
