ETB to expand fibre optic network, launch IPTV in 2013

Colombia's Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) has drawn up a ten-year strategic plan involving the USD 300 million obtained through a recent bond issue, reports local daily El Tiempo. According to company president Saul Kattan, the five priorities that form the backbone of the plan are: bringing fibre to every home, entering the interactive TV business, strengthening its regional presence, maintain its mobility services, and strengthening its virtual mobile business. Of the financial resources received, ETB will allocate 70 percent to extending the project and achieving 85 percent coverage in Bogota by 2015. Kattan also announced that ETB will launch an interactive IPTV service in the second quarter of the year.
