Etecsa to open additional internet centres in Cuba
Cuba's state-run telecoms operator Etecsa aims to open more internet centres across the country in 2015, Yucatan reports. Etecsa had opened 154 internet centres across the country from where people can have access to broadband services. The telco recently announced plans to start offering Wi-Fi connectivity in January 2015.

Cuba's state-owned telecommunications operator Etecsa has activated three new Wi-Fi hotspots in the cities of Santiago de las Vegas, Vedado and Santa Clara, reports local daily Diario de Cuba. The hotspots were installed in the Jose Marti and Linea y L parks in Santiago de las Vegas and Vedado, as well as the area surrounding Santa Clara's Augusto Cesar Sandino stadium. The country now has over 50 public Wi-Fi spaces, allowing 50 to 100 users to connect at a speed of 1 Mbps per user for USD 4.30 per hour.

Cuba to open 35 public Wi-Fi spaces - Etecsa

Cuba is planning to open a total of 35 public Wi-Fi spaces all over the county in the next few weeks, reports official daily Juventud Rebelde, citing a spokesman for state-owned telecommunications operator Etecsa. The service will be dubbed Wifi_Etecsa and will allow 50 to 100 users to connect at a speed of 1 Mbps per user, said Etecsa chief communications officer Luis Manuel Diaz Naranjo. The operator will also be reducing the price of internet access from USD 4.50 to USD 2 per hour.

Cuba's state-owned telecommunications operator Etecsa is to open new Wi-Fi hotspots in the cities of Guantanamo and Baracoa, according to a report on the Venceremos portal. The firm plans to carry out a pilot program in Santiago de Cuba province. In 2012, Etecsa had opened 140 internet centres across the country from where people can access broadband services. Etecsa, which has a monopoly in the country, will provide the Wi-Fi services for the first time on the island.
