European hybrid TV market to grow 42%

Flat screen TVs with internet access are becoming the standard in German living rooms with sales expected to grow 60 percent from 2.2 million TVs in 2010 to 3.4 million during this year, according to German ICT federation Bitkom citing data from EITO (European Information Technology Observatory). At the same time, the revenues are expected to grow by around 44 percent to EUR 3.5 billion for this year. In the EU, more than 10 million TVs with internet connection are expected to be sold during this year, growing to more than 13 million in 2012 with around 4.3 milliion in Germany. At the same time, the hybrid TV revenues in the EU will grow by 42 percent to EUR 10.4 billion in this year and will grow by around 20 percent to EUR 12.2 billion in 2012.
