France Telecom rebrands PSTN service as Orange

Wednesday 8 February 2012 | 08:42 CET | News
France Telecom's 18 million PSTN customers will see their bills for February rebranded as Orange. France Telecom has been selling mobile services under the Orange brand for a long time. There are around 3 million fewer PSTN homes every year in France, as many migrate to ADSL with unlimited telephony and others use only mobile networks. Les Echos reports that over the last few months, France Telecom gradually moved closer to being called Orange, remaining sensitive to its 64,000 civil servants. In September 2011 all employees' e-mail addresses where switched to @orange.com. Headed paper no longer said France Telecom and the & symbol introduced by France Telecom in 1997 was withdrawn. Orange is the world's 50th most valuable brand, according to Millward Brown Optimor.
