Thursday 14 April 2011 | 09:22 CET | News
Germany's largest content organisations including public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have founded the Deutsche Content Alliance. Other members are the federation of German book stores, the German music federation BVMI, the German copyrights holder association Gema, the German alliance of movie and TV producers, the movie economy organization Spio and the association of private radio and telemedia companies VPRT. The focus of the alliance will be on protecting the copyrights of content that is increasing available on internet using lobby in the political environment. To support the launch, the alliance has four demands for German politicians: protect the cultural and creative industry with regards to online content; acknowledge the cultural, economic and social significance of media content; offer appropriate economic and regulatory frameworks for media content suppliers and makers and develop a legal framework to support supplier diversity as well as non-discriminatory access while ensuring traceability for users.
