Glashart Media launches 0900-TV apps platform

Glashart Media is announcing at the Connected TV conference run by Telecompaper the new 0900-TV concept. Part of Dutch fibre operator Reggefiber, Glashart Media claims to be the country's largest provider of radio and TV services on fibre networks in the Netherlands. Glashart Media wants content providers to be able to launch their own interactive TV services simply and quickly on fibre networks. They will be able to offer their own HTML5-based applications and cloud-based TV services to customers via the fibre network and set-top boxes. This works like mobile app stores, although customers do not have to download the applications. According to Glashart Media, the 0900-TV concept ends the situation where content providers can reach customers only by meeting the specific demands of cable operators. The Glashart Media facility will allow app developers to build up their own pricing and contract terms with end-users. They can set their own security settings within the service and also use the billing system at Glashart and its service providers. The first contracts for the service have already been signed on developing applications and offering programmes. Glashart expects a full range of applications will be available soon for a variety of niche groups.
