
Guine Telecom privatisation kicks off

The transitional government of Guinea-Bissau has opened the tender for the privatization of public telecommunications operator Guine Telecom, according to a notice published in the national press and reported by news agency Lusa. The international tender will see the sale of 80 percent of the share capital and voting rights of Guine Telecom. Participants in the tender must be qualified operators with a minimum 500,000 subscribers (fixed and mobile) and experience in the deployment and exploitation of fixed and mobile networks in an emerging country in Africa, the Middle East, Asia or Eastern Europe. Participants must also have 15 percent of the turnover of the market in which they operate. The specifications of the tender are available at the West African Development Bank, the adviser of the transitional government in the process, alongside the company Africa Capital.
