Hong Kong's mobile user base dips to 14.409 mln in October

Hong Kong has seen its mobile user base decline to 14.409 million in October from 14.418 million in September, according to figures from regulator Ofta. Of the total, 7.349 million were prepaid users and the number of postpaid users stood at 7.060 million. The number of 3G customers grew to 6.967 million in October from 6.961 million in the previous month. Furthermore 969,083 mobile users connected through an MVNO, down from 975,392 MVNO users in September. On Christmas Day, mobile users sent 21.62 million SMS messages, down 13.85 percent year-on-year and they received 29.92 million messages, down 11.35 percent year-over-year. The total number of SMS sent reached 623.444 million, or 49 per subscriber, down from 624.202 million, or 60 per subscriber, a month earlier. Mobile data usage grew to 463.1 MB per 2.5G/3G customer from 418.5 MB in the prior month.
