Huawei, Northeast Wireless offer internet access in rural US
Tuesday 15 February 2011 | 11:10 CET |
News
Huawei and US-based shared access network operator Northeast Wireless Networks have launched a joint initiative to deliver broadband services to rural underserved regions in the US. Northeast Wireless Networks will deploy Huawei's SingleRAN wireless services to extend wireless broadband to areas currently underserved by major telecommunications operators. The Huawei SingleRAN service can support multiple technology types and therefore multiple carriers can be supported in a single IP-based base station. Other key Northeast Wireless Networks partners include Dragonwave and Oxford Networks of Maine. Northeast Wireless Networks has implemented a 'Buy Maine First' and 'Buy Oregon First' programmes requiring that all suppliers commit to purchasing products and services locally first before importation.
