Monday 25 July 2011 | 11:45 CET | News
Magyar Telekom, Telenor Hungary and Vodafone Hungary have joined MasterCard, OTP Bank and SuperShop to establish the Hungarian Mobile Wallet Association. The aim of the association is to design and recommend the prerequisite technological standards for mobile NFC services. At the same time, the association will submit proposals towards the successful implementation of NFC services, ensure that partners may freely join the NFC payments platform as well as inform customers about ways in which they can use mobile NFC services. This united move by Hungary's MNOs will ensure that Hungary will be among the first countries where mobile NFC services are launched in Europe. The previously articulated plans of the six market players featured test applications and, subsequently, commercial applications to be launched in 2011 and 2012.
