Inland, Thumb select Interop's CMSP Gateway

Tuesday 13 September 2011 | 14:23 CET | News
US regional operators Inland Cellular and Thumb Cellular have selected mobile technology provider Interop Technologies' hosted Commercial Mobile Service Provider (CMSP) Gateway to comply with the government's Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) initiative. Interop's hosted CMAS system enables the operators to transmit government-issued public safety and weather alert messages to their subscribers while avoiding the expense and complexity of an on-network system. Inland Cellular serves Eastern Washington and North Central Idaho, and Thumb Cellular operates in the Eastern region of Michigan. By deploying Interop's hosted CMSP Gateway, the operators see their subscribers have the protection and security of receiving CMAS notifications issued by public safety and governmental agencies. Presidential, Imminent Threat, and Amber alerts will be delivered over the operators' mobile broadcast network directly to subscribers with CMAS-compliant handsets. The regional operators will deploy the system upon completion of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) testing as required by the FCC.
