Italian PC sales down 19.2% in Q4 2011

The Italian PC market, representing 15 percent of the entire IT sector, registered a 19.2 percent drop in volumes during the last three months of 2011, according to figures released by the Sirmi consultancy. Total sales amounted to slightly over 2 million units, representing 11.7 percent of total sales in the IT sector, with turnover reaching approximately EUR 933 million. The results for the whole year saw a 14 percent drop in units (to slightly over 6.8 million) and a 9 percent fall in value (to EUR 2.97 billion). Tablet sales in the fourth quarter amounted to 533,000 units, an increase of 100 percent, while turnover reached EUR 231 million, up 85 percent. More than one million tablets were sold during the whole of 2011 with turnover reaching EUR 476 million.
