Spanish broadband operator Jazztel has renewed its contract with Huawei for the management of its network for a further five years to 2019. The initial contract signed in 2009 and due to expire in 2014 was the first management services contract signed by Huawei in Europe. Under the terms of the renewed agreement, Huawei will continue managing Jazztel's network operation activities, including field maintenance and multivendor network technical support. The relationship between Huawei and Jazztel dates back to 2005 when Jazztel commissioned Huawei to deploy the first NGN platform in service in Spain, the Chinese company's first major contract in the country.
