Line COO to take over as CEO from March
Mobile messaging service Line announced the appointment of COO Takeshi Idezawa as its next CEO. Idezawa will succeed Akira Morikawa, whose term of office will expire in March 2015. The decision will be officially approved at the shareholders meeting and the board of directors meeting to be held in March. Morikawa was CEO of NHN and Naver in Japan and helped oversee the creation and launch of Line in 2011. He has decided to leave the company at the end of his term. Idezawa was appointed a director and COO in January 2014 and handles overall operations of the Line services.
