MTN Irancell launches 4G network
MTN Irancell has introduced its LTE network in Mashhad, the second most populous city in the country. This makes it the first operator to deploy 4G technology in Iran. Through Irancell's new simcard, Usim, customers can use 4G services for mobile broadband. The operator is offering access initially over MBB modems, which support GPRS, 3G, EDGE and 4G.

MTN Irancell announced it has obtained a TD-LTE licence from the government. Irancell already can provide Wimax services in six provinces in Iran and now will be able to use TD-LTE to provide fixed wireless broadband services. Irancell claims over 21 mln data customers

Irancell said the number of data users on its network has increased to over 21 million, including 7 million on its 3G and 4G networks. The growth was supported by its expansion of the 3G and 4G networks, supporting speeds up to 150 Mbps. The company provides 3G Internet in over 200 cities and has launched the 4G network in over 50 cities nationwide.

MTN Irancell lowers mobile internet prices

MTN Irancell announced a sharp reduction in its mobile internet costs. The company now charges IRR 0.5 per KB for postpaid and IRR 0.75 per KB for prepaid, down from IRR 5 previously. The new prices apply on the 2G, 3G and 4G networks for customers without data plans. MTN Irancell also offers a range of bolt-on internet plans, which users can also share through its multi-Sim offer. Iranian operator MTN Irancell has introduced its 4G network in nine cities across the country. Uromiyeh, Babol, Tabriz, Tehran, Qom, Karaj, Mashhad and Hamedan now have LTE coverage, equal to 50 percent of the population.
