Mobile operator MTN has introduced a Wimax service in Cameroon, called MTN Nomad. The service is currently available in 18 cities, for consumer and business customers, writes Le Quotidien Mutations. Customers can buy a start kit, for fixed or mobile service, for a promotional price of XOF 130,000, available until the end of January. Consumers can choose from the Decouverte plan for XOS 25,000 for one month of access or the Confort subscription for XOF 40,000 per month. A range of plans is also available for businesses. MTN has also launched MTN Virtual, a prepaid card for customers without a handset. For XOF 500, they receive a personal card and XOF 250 in call credit. By borrowing someone else's MTN phone, the user can type in the card details and make calls from their own account. Calls are limited to 10 minutes, and the handset owner's line remains active during the call.
