Polish national registry of the .pl domain Nask launched an online safety campaign aimed at drawing the attention of Poles to the need of responding to online incidents such as child sexual abuse content as well as at building awareness about such illegal activities. Named 'I don't accept, access or visit...,' the campaign is being held in the framework of the European Commission's Safer Internet Programme and is a response to the growing number of online incidents reported by Polish internet users. The campaign is addressed to adults and includes online, print and outdoor advertising. More than 17,000 incidents of online abuse have been reported in the past five years to Dyzurnet.pl. The number of incidents grew from less than 1,000 in 2005 to 5,000 in 2010. In the first half, 2,778 incidents were reported to Dyzurnet.pl team members. In 2010, the average number of incidents reported per month was 411. In the first half, the average grew to 463 incidents. According to the statistics for the first six months, the most frequently reported incidents were those concerning child sexual abuse content. Another category with a significant share was porn of adults, followed by racism and xenophobia, cyber violence and hard porn. The 'Other content' category included, for example, suicide encouragement, cruelty to animals, promoting violence or offending comments. On the www.dyzurnet.pl website, operated by the Dyzurnet.pl team, internet users may anonymously report illegal and harmful content found on the internet. Members of the team verify each reported incident and then decide on further steps aimed at the removal of such content. They pass the information to members of the International Association of Internet Hotlines INHOPE, law enforcement agencies or server owners.
