Niel to buy Monaco Telecom for up to USD 450 mln - report
Xavier Niel, who controls French telecom operators Iliad and Free, is close to a deal to acquire a majority stake in Monaco Telecom for up to USD 450 million from UK operator Cable & Wireless, people familiar with the matter told the Financial Times. The deal could be announced this week, two people said, and Niel will be buying it as a personal investment, not through its French operators. Monaco Telecom, whose elite clientele is said to have attracted the entrepreneur, is Monaco's main mobile, broadband and pay TV services. The disposal marks the end of C&W shifting its focus to the Central America and Caribbean region.

Monaco Telecom launches LTE-A service

Monaco Telecom has launched 4G+ (LTE-A) services at no additional cost for all of its mobile customers. The first upgraded base station is in Port Hercule, and the rest of the principality is due to be covered later this year. MT to provide comms for electric vehicle speed record

Monaco Telecom announced that it will support Venturi Automobiles' and Ohio State University's attempt to break the land speed record for an electric vehicle at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah between 18 and 21 August. The Venturi VBB-3 aims to reach 600 km per hour, having already set the current record of 495 km per hour in 2010. Monaco Telecom mobile traffic upsurges during Yacht Show

Monaco Telecom, a Cable & Wireless Communications unit, has reported a sharp increase in mobile data and voice usage in its network during the 23rd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show.
