NMa chairman steps down

Thursday 14 April 2011 | 14:42 CET | News
The chairman of Dutch competition regulator NMa, Pieter Kalbfleisch is taking a leave of absence to defend his interets in the so-called Chipshol scandal. Board member Henk Don will take over his tasks for as long as it takes Kalbfleisch to resolve the affair. The Chipshol scandal revolves around a piece of ground near the Amsterdam airport Schiphol. Klabfleish is suspected of exerting undue influence on a legal suit over the land when he was a judge in The Hague. He has denied the allegations. The national police are investigating the case based on a tip from a former employee of the court. Kalbfleisch's six-year term at the NMa ends on 30 June. Don was already named earlier to lead the negotiations on merging the NMa with the telecoms regulator Opta and the Consumer Authority.
