NTT Docomo, KT collaborate on NFC coupons
Korea's KT and Japan's NTT Docomo have teamed up to provide cross-border NFC benerfits to their customers. KT is offering the service to its Olleh Club members and users if its mobile money service MoCa. Customers will get a variety of discounts at Japanese stores and restaurants from January 2013. Meanwhile, NTT Docomo customers will get the same membership benefits as provided to KT customers at several retailers and service providers. Customers with NFC phones can read a smart tag to immediately download coupons for use in Japan and Korea.

South Korean operator SK Telecom's mobile business SK Planet plans to set up an NFC zone in central Tokyo as part of a move to expand the service globally, reports Yonhap News Agency. Under the agreement with Japanese mobile operators KDDI and Softbank, the company will introduce the service in the Shin-Okubo area starting in April this year, the company said in a press release.

Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo has developed the Smartphone for Juniors SH-05E, an entry-level model for upper elementary and junior high school students that will go on sale in early February. Tizen smartphones expected to launch in 2013

Japan's NTT Docomo aims to offer phones supporting the new operating system Tizen in 2013, reports The Yomiuri Shimbun. Docomo has joined with Samsung Electronics, Intel and other firms to develop the OS.
