Over 37 million French aged over 11 years old, representing 70 percent of France's population, connected to the internet in November 2010, that is 8 percent more than in November 2009, according to November 2010 statistics from Mediametrie. In the same month, 33.5 million internet users, 96.3 percent of whom had fixed internet connections at home, used broadband connections (cable or ADSL), 11 percent more than in November 2009. More and more French people connect to the internet on a daily basis and consult specific types of websites, data from the same survey suggests. Internet users who visited online video websites on a daily basis reached 6.5 million in November 2010, that is 34 percent more than in November 2009. Playing online games daily is just as common as watching videos online with a total of 6.6 million internet users playing games online every day in November 2010, 27 percent more compared to November 2009. Almost 12 million French internet users visited blogs or social networking websites on a daily basis in November 2010, that is 2.3 million or 24 percent more than in November 2009. At the same time, 16 percent more internet users, approximately 17.5 million, accessed search engines on a daily basis, and 13 percent more, 16.4 million, visited generalist portals daily in November 2010.
