Omantel has set up a new subsidiary to provide data backup and hosting services to government, banking and oil and gas sector clients in the domestic and regional markets, Muscat Daily reported. It is called Oman Data Park and is a joint venture between Omantel and 4Trust. Omantel owns a 60 percent stake in the subsidiary, which is being set up at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat in Rusayl. Until that facility is complete, the joint venture will use Omantel's Tier 3 data centre at Qurum to provide services to corporate customers. Oman Data Park also aims to use Omantel's robust international connectivity to offer managed data services to potential customers beyond the Sultanate's borders.
