Ooredoo launches operations in Myanmar

Ooredoo has launched operations in Myanmar. The operator will offer HD voice calls and internet services on the local market. Ooredoo's 3G services are currently available in Myanmar's major cities, including Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon, as part of final preparations for commercial launch later this month. Ooredoo will initially provide a bundle of services free of charge in a kick off promotion. Ooredoo is rolling out an UMTS900 network. Ooredoo plans to expand its services coverage to 68 cities and towns by 15 August. To use the Ooredoo services, customers should register and acquire a SIM card for USD 1.50 (MMK 1,500) at Ooredoo's over 6,500 dealers across Myanmar.
