Orange and Google have signed a partnership to increase access to mobile internet services across Africa and the Middle East. The offer will consist of the new Orange Rise 31 Special Edition 3G smartphone, the flagship of the operator’s 2016 line-up for its MEA markets. The 4-in phone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and will feature a quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of ROM, a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1500 mAH battery.
The Orange Rise 31 Special Edition will be sold with voice, SMS and data tariff plans starting at USD 40. The device will launch in a phased approach across Orange’s full MEA footprint in the second quarter. It will come with the native set of Google services and the partnership will develop local services and fashion, sport and music content. An educational campaign will help customers better understand the benefits and value the mobile internet can bring.
