Orange Spain hits record 500 Mbps in Barcelona LTE-A tests
Orange Spain has announced that it has broken the barrier of 500 Mbps for the first time in Spain in LTE-A tests conducted at its Barcelona labs. According to Orange, its LTE-A (4G+) technology achieves the highest speeds yet seen in Spain by aggregating the 2,600 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 800 Mhz frequencies, boosted by 256 Quadrature Amplified Modulation (QAM) innovation. At last year’s Mobile World Conference in Barcelona the aggregation of the same bands delivered sustained speeds of 300 Mbps and peak rates of 400 Mbps. This year it has further increased performance by adding 256 QAM downlink encoding technology to the 3xCarrier Aggregation.
