Paraguay to award 4G spectrum this year

The government of Paraguay expects to award spectrum for 4G LTE services during 2014, La Nacion reports, citing telecoms regulator Conatel president Eduardo Gonzalez. The official did not provide further details on the expected date and the specific spectrum bands the government expects to award. Gonzalez said that the funds obtained in the spectrum auction will be used to construct 4,000-7,000 homes for people affected by recent floods. Earlier this year, Gonzalez said that the government was planning to award spectrum in the 700 MHz band in 2015. Paraguay's current mobile operators are Tigo, Personal, Claro and Vox.
