Tuesday 10 January 2012 | 05:11 CET | News
PayPal has selected US home improvement retailer Home Depot to test an in-store payment system. The service is designed to enable shoppers to buy items without cash or a traditional credit card. The trial will initially be run in five Home Depot stores and will involve a limited number of PayPal employees, Reuters reports, citing PayPal spokesman Anuj Nayar. eBay`s division also plans to expand the program over the coming months. In order to pay via PayPal at the register, buyers should type the phone number related to their PayPal account as well as a PIN into the payment terminal. In addition, PayPal intends to issue a plastic card with a magnetic strip which can be swiped at these terminals.
