Polkomtel confirms HSPA+ roll-out in 11 cities
Polish mobile operator Polkomtel has upgraded 500 base stations for HSPA+ service in 11 large cities across the country. The upgrade raises the maximum download speed to 21.6Mbps from 7.2Mbps. Polkomtel, which operates under the Plus brand name, started tests for HSPA+ in April this year in Wroclaw, and the service will be gradually rolled out to more areas. HSDPA coverage is already available to more than 60 percent of the population. Customers can buy the Huawei E1820 USB modem in order to access the HSPA+ service. The modem is available from PLN 1 with mobile data packages for consumer and business customers.
