Qualcomm in talks to buy NXP Semiconductors - report
Qualcomm is in talks to acquire NXP Semiconductors for over USD 30 billion. The companies could strike an agreement in the next two to three months, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. 

NXP acquired Freescale last year, but Qualcomm has yet to play a major role in the latest round of consolidation in the semiconductor industry. The merger would see Qualcomm expand beyond its traditional wireless business into new areas such as the automotive market. The company's significant cash position generated from its lucrative licensing business could help it finance such a big deal.

Qualcomm almost finished with NXP due diligence - report

Qualcomm could be close to taking over NXP Semiconductors, Bloomberg reported, citing sources who say the deal could be announced when NXP reports its quarterly results on 26 October.
